I am a Weirdo

Guess What? You are someone's weirdo :P Wise words and 100% true. But here is how I like to think about it - I think Dr. Seuss said it best: We're all a little weird, and life's a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual WEIRDNESS and call it LOVE. 

We've got the noise!

So basically this is how I feel almost 110% of the time! The world we live in is afraid of new things or new ideas or people willing to stand up for what they believe in. If you don't conform, your a "dirty little freak"

Nothing new

Are we human? Yes. Are we perfect? NO. Its as simple as that.  We will make mistakes, some bigger than others. We shouldn't beat ourselves up about it.  We try to clean up the mess we made and try to be better. Of course we have to take responsibility for what we did, that's not surprising, but after, we must try to be better. I thought this song portrayed that perfectly. Don't bury them, learn from them. Face them head on and you won't have to fear them.

Slow me down and breathe. . .

Most people live life in the fast lanes because what they want can't get here fast enough.  Slow down! Enjoy this moment because this moment is your life :) But sometimes we can't do this on our own, we need people to remind us to enjoy the simpler things in life.

Made of Gold

During the Gold Rush, everyone left for California to make it big. Nowadays, gold isn't so hard to find. But something we need to remember is we need to give a shout out to where we are from, the people who has built us up to succeed.  We will have people pop into our lives with hearts made of gold because they know who they are and where they are from. Find your treasures :)

Do you ever feel as if everyone is waiting for you to break? When we were little, we were indestructible! We made our own worlds and friends and the world in all its chaos didn't exist.  But as we took our first steps into the world we let go of the courage.  We need to remember how to be those strong soldiers we would pretend to be as children and fight the world.

Ghosts

Sometimes we may feel invisible and feel like a ghost. There are also people from our past who come back to haunt us and we can't let go of what has happened.

Run to the people who a reliable and trustworthy. They are waiting for you to realize how important you are :)

I have always loved this song! I did a dance to it in 8th grade and I still love it to this day :) Owl city has a way to make life seem simple. My favorite line in this song is "The spaces between my fingers are right where yours fit perfectly" People are kind of like puzzles, the pieces don't always fit together. Someday I will find my perfect fit ;)

Reclaim the use of our Imagination

As random as this song is, the message is great :) It reminds us to breathe and be calm! Because sometimes this life is just crazy.  I believe we need to "reclaim the use of our imagination" when we want to stand out and be unique. I also believe that we do "hate our heartbeat because it still thinks we're alive" When the world seems to pass you by, you don't feel important, but YOU ARE IMPORTANT. And in so many ways :)

What more can anyone ask for?! The simple task of trying and giving life and love a fun beat :)
My heart and soul will go to someone who can make me laugh and enjoy life with me, no more, no less than that. I love to think that there are other people in the world that celebrate and have fun and live it to its fullest, just like in this song!

Music is the food of the soul (I know I sound like a hippie) But it is true :) Music is brave and when there is a song that has lyrics that challenge or are totally out there, I RESPECT THEM! I may not agree, but they are letting the world know what they think, through song.

Always respect others opinions. Respect your own as well.  Here is how you do that: Speak up and let people know how you feel or what you think :) In school, controversial topics come up all the time, I don't argue, I simply voice my opinion.  Finally, fear none.  Don't be afraid of how people will react and how they will respond.  Stand your ground because it is what you believe.

I believe in that statement 100%! When we grow up, the world fights with us more than ever! We were sheltered and protected as children but now we have to fight our own battles.  Its songs like this that give the me hope and strength to keep me going (Along with my friends and family who help me so much :D) Find ways to build yourself up when the world is tearing you down :)

Another song from the The Vow soundtrack :) The instrumental is beautiful and the lyrics have meaning.  The way his voice sounds is so different and its kind of a cheesy love song, but - I love it all the same.

On the other hand, the lyrics made me realize something.  Pictures are worth a thousand words, why not a thousand lyrics?! I often associate people with a certain song or genre of music. I will listen to a song and a name of someone I know will pop into my head.  I will look at pictures and remember the great times I have had and think "What song was I thinking about when this picture was taken?" Although pictures are great, mental pictures are better.  You think about how you felt, what you saw, or even what you could smell during these memories.  Or in my case, what I was listening to in my head :P

Reality

Make lemonade and love it! :)

Sometimes life gives you lemons and it is really hard to make lemonade - or in other words, its hard to make a negative or "sour" situation into a positive or "sweet" ones.  My world is full of these situations, but you have to make the most out of what you have. Make lemonade and love it! 

Choco Taco :)

Today afterschool, my dad stopped at a gas station on the way home. I asked why we were stopping and he said, "this is the only place I can think of that has choco tacos." this past weekend we had seen a commercial for choco tacos and we all wanted one. I thought we had forgotten about by now but then he surprised me.

I guess what I want to say is that there are people in your life that pay attention and care and love you. My suggestion, buy them a choco taco and share some good times :)

I want to feel like SUNLIGHT! :D

This song is just so happy I had to share :) I don't want a guy to tell me all the cheesy, cute things guys say to girls.  I want him to say something like this. (not sung, but that would be way cute) Something very unique and classic at the same time.  I don't want Shakespeare, I don't want any of the characters from Twilight, I want something that is true and honest.  Something that will make me feel special :) I love a guy that can make me laugh and smile, that's is the most important thing to me :)

When your little, it seems like nothing can go wrong, like everything is funny :) Then you grow up and realize life isn't all fun and games, life is messy and sad sometimes.  I wish I could stay little, but then again, I would miss out on life and all it has to offer.  But we look at little kids and realize how sweet, innocent, and pure they are! I can't help but smile when I am around little kids making up their own songs about food or playing peek a boo with you :) Sometimes you just need your parents and sometimes you just need freedom.  But little kids, don't need to grow up so fast, the need to enjoy the laughing days :)

I am not a chess piece!

I will not be forced to play any game except my own.  I won't let anyone make my decisions.  I agree with Prince Albert that I will one day find someone to play "life" WITH me and not FOR me.  She was a princess and had everything except the freedom to choose and decide for herself.  I am not a princess, but I have the ability to be independent in some cases.  Anyone who thinks otherwise about me, should think again, because I am no ones chess piece.  My life, my game, my rules. (except when my parents tell to clean my room or give me a curfew ;)

This is a song from Hunger Games (Books and movie HIGHLY recommended) But this song says a lot about the world and who I am.  I won't let anyone walk all over me.  I don't play anyone's game, LIFE is my game and so far, I like making my own choices.  Yes there are rules to the game of LIFE but there are also a ton of freedoms that allow me to be me.  I believe in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I am 16 and TOTALLY RETRO, and I love my family and my friends.  I am excited what my life has in store.  I take pride in who I see in the mirror everyday because who you see is who you get.  One personality, one mind, and one heart :) I am finally the real me and I am ready to let the whole world see that. 

This is real, this is me, I am exactly where I am supposed to be :)

Let's get to the point.......TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS! People everywhere try to run from what they have done or from their problems, but whatever happens, you will have to face it later.  Your actions portray who you really are and if all you ever do is run or lie, people won't respect who you are.  But if you show responsibility and face what life throws at you, it will only make you stronger.  You will have a sense of accomplishment about your life if later on down the road you can say, "I have accepted the consequences of my actions." I know we are only human and we are bound to make mistakes, but step up, and claim responsibility. You learn from your mistakes and you build character by not beating yourself up about it :)

So basically, just the beginning part on the boat is what I am focusing on.  When he says "The error is human" I like that because he was saying that mistakes are ok, even for someone who is lying to everyone saying they are an ancient god.  I suggest you watch the whole movie because it is funny and has some good lessons and morals in it.  You can watch it all on youtube :)

Les Miserables

I recently watched the Liam Neeson version of Les Miserables and I loved it! It has such a good moral and it is full of things we see everyday. Everyone deserves a second chance, Jean Valjean was given the benefit of the doubt by the preacher in the beginning, and that led him to become someone who was caring and patient and generous. Most of all he became understanding and honest.

Wishing you were somehow here again.....

Part of life is losing people you love. There is no way to avoid it but there is a way to cushion the blow. You live everyday for them, make them proud, and if you were happy when they were here you can be happy when they are gone. Stay smiling for those who are gone :)

Lately I have been sketching. . . LIKE CRAZY! For some reason I can't put my pencil down.  I found out something about myself that I didn't know and I am creating new things.  Love yourself for who you are. Yes, someone may be a better artist, singer, dancer, or musician.  BIG DEAL, get over it. Don't ever get discouraged, because no one is better than you. They may be talented but so are you. Go for what you have always dreamed of.  Shoot for the stars! Seriously, there is a whole world out there for us to discover and the sky is the limit (Unless you want to be an astronaut and so, you know) What is stopping you from reaching your goals? Who is stopping you from reaching your goals? You can't blame anyone but yourself.

Finding Neverland

I was watching Peter Pan recently and wanted to change the theme of my blog.  Neverland is a fantastical place where Peter Pan and the Lost Boys never grow up.  They battle the infamous Captain Hook and have fun.  They don't care what they do, just as long as they are having fun :) I wish the world was like that only a little different.  I have found my Neverland.  I found my own style, I walk to the beat of my own drum, and I don't care what people think.  I'm not saying I will never grow up, I'm saying. . . . .there comes a point where you want to escape from the world.  A point where you want to fight pirates and chase fairies. . . a point where all you want to do is a take a breather from the world and laugh, smile.  If there is something that you enjoy, or something that helps you be YOU, go for it! Walk down the streets and trust me, "Heads will roll."

Fairy Tales vs. Real Life

I don't believe in fairy tales, but I believe in you and me.

This can be looked at both ways, as pessimistic or optimistic.  Yes, sometimes when you have people that you "believe" in, it may seem like a fairy tale.  But life is messy, life is full of unexpected turns and thematic elements.  Don't always expect a Knight in shining Armor to come in on his White Horse and ride off into the sunset with you.  Expect something real, something...........BETTER.  Have you ever heard of what happens after the "and they lived happily ever after"? No one wants to be stuck in one moment for the rest of their lives, they want to see where it goes. They want to have that moment now where they say, "50 years from now we will still be talking about this." And then 50 years later, that moment will happen.

It's good to hope and its good to dream, but life will never be as it may seem :)

Take it as a compliment or empowerment.  Your RETRO and you know it! The song 99 balloons by Blondie (I love her now) is my inspiration for my motto "16 and totally RETRO!"
